Anton Art Center Awards $25k in Regional Grants on Behalf of Michigan Arts and Culture Council

The Anton Art Center, Region 10A Regranting Agency for the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (formerly known as the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs) servicing Macomb and Oakland counties, has awarded $25,015 to eleven Oakland and Macomb County organizations and individual artists through the MCACA Mini Grant program.

Lamphere Schools was awarded $3,000 for construction of an eco-sculpture.

Macomb Cultural and Economic Partnership was awarded $2,000 to create a public sculpture.

Cinema Lamont was awarded $4,000 to host a film festival.

Ferndale Community Concert Band was awarded $1,000 to fund a concert series. 

Choral Artists of Michigan was awarded $4,000 for Collaborative Choral performances.

Collective Sweat was awarded $3,000 to expand the dance classes they offer to the community.

New Music Detroit was awarded $2,000 to bring new and experimental music to the community. 

Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival Operating Corporation was awarded $1,500 for capital development training.

School District of the City of Pontiac was awarded $2,000 for musical programming for elementary school students.

Girls Rock Detroit was awarded $1,500 to train and develop their board.

Patricia Von Niessen was awarded $1,015 for professional development in advanced art glass techniques.

For fiscal year 2021, Region 10A (Macomb and Oakland counties) has received 16 Mini Grant applications in the first round of funding. More than $46,500 in grant funds were requested. The Michigan Arts and Culture Council made $43,000 available to the Region for regranting through two rounds of funding. The Mini Grant program is made possible by an award from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council. The deadline for Round Two of the MACC Mini Grants is January 15th, 2022 at 5pm. Additionally, MACC also has made $10,000 of grant funds available for schools in Macomb and Oakland counties to be used for art supplies and equipment or for bussing support for arts and culture related field trips. These funds are awarded based on application date and the Anton Art Center will stop receiving applications after April 15, 2022.
