The Michigan Legacy Art Park Board of Directors recently announced the promotion of Madeline Saucedo as interim executive director, effective immediately. Saucedo will assume day-to-day operations from outgoing executive director Joseph Beyer, hired in late 2018.

“Maddie is the perfect leader for the Art Park—intelligent, inquisitive, collaborative and solicitous,” said Meghan Martin, Art Park board president. “During Maddie’s time as managing director, she demonstrated her ability to connect the community to the mission of the Park, and she has brought a fresh perspective to the work the Art Park does overall. She will be a strong leader for the organization.”

When asked about Maddie assuming the interim executive director role, Beyer said, "I am enormously excited by this change in leadership and I look forward to watching the park develop and grow under Saucedo's numerous talents."

"One of the most incredible gifts of the Art Park, in addition to the inspiration and true adventures it offers, is how magically it connects people together, no matter their background, age, or experiences. Over the last two-and-a-half years, I've had the honor of seeing those connections in motion, and it's been a highlight of my career to work for such a unique and esteemed organization," said Beyer.

Maddie joined Michigan Legacy Art Park in March of 2020 and has served the organization as managing director for the last year. “I am incredibly grateful for the kind words and extended support from our Board of Directors, Committee Members, and all those who love the Art Park as I do. I am looking forward to another Michigan summer at the Art Park, and the many programs and projects we have planned for this year.”

Prior to joining the Art Park, Saucedo served as volunteer and intern coordinator at the Women’s Resource Center for the Grand Traverse Area. She earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in nonprofit management from Central Michigan University in 2019. Saucedo also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Michigan State University with minors in Anthropology and Classical & Ancient Mediterranean Studies.
