Mitch Albom & Jeffrey Hatcher’s ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ Makes Michigan Premiere at Wharton Center

The beloved stage play Tuesdays with Morrie, by Mitch Albom and Jeffery Hatcher, is making its Michigan premiere for a special four-night run in Wharton Center’s Pasant Theatre from Thursday, August 18, to Sunday, August 21, 2022. Tickets are on sale now through the official Wharton Center Ticket Office, online at whartoncenter.com, or by calling 517.432.2000 or 1.800.WHARTON.

Tuesdays with Morrie stars Michael Russotto as Morrie and Cody Nickell as Mitch, directed by Jenna Place. The play is based on the #1 New York Times best-selling memoir by Mitch Albom, chronicling Mitch’s time spent with his beloved professor, Morrie Schwartz, as Morrie was stricken with ALS. A labor of love, Mitch wrote this book to help pay for Morrie’s medical bills. Michigan’s own Water Works Theatre Company tours this powerful affirmation of life and friendship, as originally presented by Theater J in Washington, DC.

Four of Mitch’s best sellers have been turned into successful TV movies. The film adaptation of Tuesdays with Morrie was produced by Oprah in 1999, garnering four EmmyÒ Awards, including Best TV Film.

Writer Mitch Albom moved to Detroit in 1985 where he became a nationally acclaimed sports journalist at the Detroit Free Press and one of the best-known media figures in Detroit’s history. Mitch has founded many charities in the metro Detroit area and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
