Author Steve Adelman Discusses & Signs Book at Saginaw Public LIbraries

Essexville native Steve Adelman will appear at Hoyt Library, 505 Janes Avenue in Saginaw, Thursday, July 7 at 6 p.m. for a discussion and book signing on his new memoir, Nocturnal Admissions: Behind the Scenes at Tunnel, Limelight, Avalon, and Other Legendary Nightclubs.

Adelman's humorous and engaging book, published this month by Santa Monica Press, chronicles his improbable journey from growing up in a small town to directing and owning of some of the world's most popular nightclubs. His career includes nightclubs in New York City during their heydey in late 1980s and 1990s, followed by clubs in Boston, Hollywood, Singapore and Memphis in the 2000s.

Creating world class fun for others is stressful, often times 24/7 work, involving countless hours of behind-the-scenes diplomacy, wrangling, crisis management, and ego massaging.

The reader will tag along and experience how Adelman watched his Nana out-dance an ex-NFL lineman, later mistaking Danny DeVito for her; was drunkenly taken for Sherlock Holmes; chastised by a rock icon; been an equal opportunity employer for Little People; received a bruise from a projectile cheeseburger thrown by a Burger King, helped launch a musical movement, butted heads with Jerry Falwell, rang in the New Year with Matt Damon's mother, leveraged a porn star, relied on advice from felons, almost pancaked Prince, ghost-hunted, and built the world's most lavish nightclub, all in a day's work.

His discussion at Hoyt will cover the theme "Your Life Story Includes Your Nightlife Story".

"Growing up in the Saginaw/ Bay City area certainly had a big impact on my future, sometimes in humorous and surprising ways a could never have imagined," Adelman said.
