Michigan Culinary Artist On The Rise with Food Network Special

She wasn’t sure how this wild journey began, but Michigan-based culinary artist, Jill Davis is the latest to rise to the national stage as she competes on the Food Network’s latest Halloween themed baking competition for a $25,000 prize. The competition which has episodes airing each week throughout the month of September, aired its first episode on September 12.

This Michigan artist was first contacted by a casting agent with the television channel, and after an extensive interview process, found herself casted on the show. All of the episodes have been pre-recorded, airing now through the culmination of the spooky holiday.

Davis first opened her culinary art business, Drizzle Cakes & Bakes, in 2019 at the Owosso Farmer’s Market. The Central Michigan University graduate began her career in the Lansing-area at Chapelure before finding her way to starting her own business.

And while starting a business is never easy, the artistry of her work has landed her on the national stage. “I've thought about giving up and getting a 'real job' so many times. I became a mostly stay at home mom and lost a lot of confidence in my work in the process.”

The recent Mother talked about the value this show and process has been on her professional through a post on her social media page. “This (show) was the reminder I needed that I'm still worth it. My work is worth it. And most importantly, I am an example of hard work and dedication for my boys to follow as they grow. May they always chase their dreams.”

And if you don’t like spoilers, you should stop reading now.

Jill survived the first week of challenges and posted this about the experience following the airing of the first episode: “I'd just like to let everyone know that I could not be more grateful for everyone who has reached out and wished me well, good luck, or has cheered me on! I was so anxious about this show coming out and you have all made it so wonderful. And for the record, I CAN open a bottle of wine. Just not on national television. It was so amazing to see all of the incredible things my cast-mates made! Zac's strawberry marshmallow intestines, am I right?!”
